My Water Clips Falkirk

This was on a river bank in Falkirk -- more photos in Process

The water patterns look like oil

Even when the waves are quite still the water creates patterns in the mirrors

My Water Clips Portobello

I had focussed so much on mirrors that did not notice the widows and frames in background from houses behind. Like the layering.

This was taken with a camera in a thick poly pocket

Then the wind came along

Ideas

The glass structures could be filled with water giving a still water level on the structures on the beach -- this would reflect through to the submerged structures in the natural moving water line.

Maquette

Really enjoyed building the maquette as it made me realise the impact on digging the larger area to gain the correct gradient to access the angle required. It started off shoe box size and took over the living room on Sunday.

Ideas

What am I trying to say?

Got to the point out of all the process of trying to view the water line. We look on top of the water , we can go under the water but we do not often view the lines and moving patterns created by water.

Portobello Beach

Tried to capture the moving sea by placing some plaster in a bucket and allowing the waves to run in. I had tried other ways of doing this but this was the most successful. The sand stuck to the plaster and I took surplus off with an old toothbrush. Interesting formations.

Portobello Beach

Ended up going back to Portobello beach on Friday in the last attempt to solidify ideas. Always believe in going back to roots whilst you need to digest information.I have lots of ideas around the research but some throw up many more questions than I can answer at the moment eg construction , engineering. Loved this mix of seaweed and string lodged into sand. Tried to pull it out and it was stuck solid. I was glad it was stuck as it reminds me that it belonged there and whenever you take things out of their environment it loses its original beauty.

Interest

This wee spot on the way to my fave coffee shop at the weekends. Have never gone in to have a look as its in the uni campus buildings. It always make me want to see whats through the windows. My mind always plays tricks and also looks for something at the concrete filled window.
The photos of glass frames have repeated the reflection in glass -- then the physical space being part broken and transparent by part of the darker reflection.

Process

I pass this building at least once a week and see something different depending on angle or window you look at. Would love to pay homage to Gordon Matta- Clark and cut a big circle out of the outer walls.

Gordon Matta Clark

Some of the layers of solid physical images of the building then the moving traffic in background remind me slightly of the physical space and form in real time with different reflections  set against the movement of the water in the background within some of my earlier images.

Wood Recycling

This is a greenhouse made out of plastic bottles at the Glasgow Wood Recycling.

Really interesting place for a rummage around or donate any wood you dont need see rules below.

Wood Recycling

Go to University cafe ( Byres Road )for an ice cream and take a  walk down towards Partick Cross. On the right you will come across Dalcross Street. Walk along and the space opens up to a Social Enterprise Wood Recycling Space. I remember when this space was empty and ready for development. You can also reach it by the Kelvinhall underground. The entrance of station opens onto a wee tunnel, instead of going on to main road go to the lane at back as its a shortcut to the magical wood. Sorry but I have taken pics through fence as I forgot it was closed on a Sunday. Posted Recycling rules too.

Michelangelo Pistoletto

This is displacement and duplication of space on another level -- the next video is an amateur video of the smashing of the mirrors at the opening.

Georgie Friedman

Can imagine what its like to stand beside these installations. There would be a point where you could slip into a hypnotic state. Never quite finding a form in the speed.
