Artists

Robert Smithson is known for many Earthworks.  Smithson established a precedent for monumental art when he created Spiral Jetty(spring 1970).  I have researched his "Mirror Travels" and in particular his Yucatan series of Mirror Displacements.  My questions around this work are: does the mirror create an illusion within the landscape; does it introduce another object; or is it an image displacement? Or could it be all of them?
In this project I would like to follow on from my previous exhibition piece of compression of matter in the "mirror" to distortion or expansion of matter in the "mirror". I use the term "mirror" metaphorically as I will start with the obvious physical mirror and experiment with reflection in a broader spectrum.
