Process
During this process of experimentation with water / mirrors and displacement or fragmentation of images, I have discovered a lot about light and the differing effects gained depending on weather. The natural light or artificial light and the effect it has on an object. Sometimes blurring the edges of an object to almost make it disappear into its' surroundings or creating a 3d reflection almost jumping out of the image.
Whilst out with my trolley filled with water on Tuesday I found as I was passing through the basement, the strong sunlight cast a dancing shadow on the white brick wall. Creates another layer of projection. I love it when you stumble across a wee unexpected moment.

Water Experiments
Drawing/ trapping water and shapes inside plastic to search further and allow investigation of the images filmed outside so far.
Upside Down
After watching the Anish Kapoor videos below I decided to turn the world upside down. Attached a frame to wheels and a plastic tub on the top. Filled tub with water mirrors and glass. It resembled a shopping trolley of sorts. Soaked again as the water kept splashing out whenever I went over a kerb or any little bump on road. The image reflected sky buildings trees and the odd bird. Again hard to keep out of reflection unless angling the mirror away from you. Tended to film pot luck most of the time and edit /delete when on site rather than wait till later. Got some really funny looks but that just adds to the fun. Getting used to it now.
Red Shed BBC
A group of us went along with Mr C to Glasgow Sculpture Studios for an artist talk by John Vella. He discussed and presented images spanning his career. Loved listening to his approach and process. Look up website for list of artists at Sculpture Studios over next 6 weeks. Lots going on.
We walked along to the BBC on a beautiful sunny day to attend the launch for the Red Shed. Images above. Brief description -- 6 artists were given the space to create as they wished in and around the shed their own ideas of how the space should be used. The "Shed" was positioned by Graven Images inside the BBC on an office floor full of rows and rows of office desks. ( typical working office environment.) All details posted on SEA within VLE. The Red Shed operating on the night was offering a copying service. I handed in a stone and received a drawing on paper cut to shape then wrapped in red tape. Similiar---isshhh. We all had a good laugh comparing our copies. Just loved the idea. Hannah in photo above handing in her object to be copied
What an inspirational day.

Mirror experiments Edinburgh
I grouped sets of four sticks together, this formed interesting reflections in the mirrors crossing over images to the next mirror. Some of the reflections create figurative images. It is difficult trying to disguise your own reflection in the images depending on angle of shot.
Mirror experiments Edinburgh
Left sunny warm Glasgow and between a train and bus journey I have ended up in a foggy not so bright Portobello. You have to be ready for any situation. Anyway I have trollied some bigger mirrors to Edinburgh to see what will happen today. The mirrors slipped quite a few times on the huge rocks and could not get a lot of reflection as the fog created a glare. It looked better when all lost their reflection as it blanked out just like a sheet of paper. Collected 101 driftwood sticks and followed patterns left by water on the sand-- mirroring the curved twists and turns.

Process sellotape experiment
This is my favourite image as you can't really tell what is fragmenting the image and cannot see where it starts and ends.
Process glass experiments
The glass gives reflection transparency and displacemaent of physical space. Especially like the last photo above as it shatters and fragments the image.
Process Slate Experiments
It was not a good idea to try this at the end of the day as the blocks were really heavy. How do artists move it around for such large pieces? Would love to have stretched a full row right along the edge of the water but it was 7pm after a long day and I think I have enough of an idea. Phew!!! Imagining scale from these photographs after this event beneficial as this could be any size. I liked the different texture and colour added by the glass.
Process Slate
Found it really difficult to edit the photos down as there were so many amazing shapes and formations. My location is the picturesque village of Luss in Scotland. Don't have exact details yet but found a British Geological Survey and specimen of roofing slate quarried from Auchengavin Luss,Strathclyde. I thought I understood but now I only start to understand why Andy Goldsworthy, Robert Smithson , Tony Cragg and many more artists would take so much inspiration from the natural elements.
Process
Looking at Richard Long and Andy Goldsworthy inspires me to look at the landscape. Moved away from water for a few hours to give myself a different direction and possibilities. You cannot help but want to ask the landscape what it wants you to do after watching the videos. These images are glass over branches. Love the stretching of colour and the magnification of environment.
